[Exclusive] OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple Press Renders Leak: New Colour Treatment Similar To OnePlus 6 and 5T

A couple of days back a reputed leakster, Ishan Agarwal, spotted the new Thunder Purple variant of the device on the OnePlus India support page. Apparently, a drop-down menu that allows buyers to choose their OnePlus smartphone had a listing that clearly mentioned Thunder Purple colour variant of the OnePlus 6T smartphone.

Now we have the official-looking press renders of the OnePlus 6T in the new Thunder Purple colour option. Incidentally, this is not new for OnePlus. After the initial launches, the OnePlus 6 was later released in Silk White and Red editions. The same cosmetic treatment was done for the OnePlus 5T which later was available in a Star Wars Limited Edition variant.

The press renders apparently do a great job of highlighting the OnePlus 6T in the new color. Given the OnePlus history, it is quite likely the Thunder Purple could be one of several new color options the company could be discussing. Moreover, the company may also indulge in producing some limited edition of the OnePlus 6T bearing some exclusive brand or movie.

OnePlus will be taking the wraps off the OnePlus 6T at an event in New York City on October 29th. Thanks to a slew of leaks, pretty much all the key specifications of the smartphone have already been revealed. Less than a week before the smartphone’s global unveiling, we have managed to access its complete spec sheet, along with some promo material describing a few key features. While most of the information listed in the spec sheet was known already, it does reveal a few new details such as an upgraded front-facing camera.

OnePlus 6T Complete Spec Sheet Leaked Ahead of Launch Next Week

As confirmed by the multiple leaks in the past, the OnePlus 6T will sport a large 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display with 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Similar to the latest OPPO and Vivo mid-range smartphones, the OnePlus 6T will have a tiny waterdrop notch at the top, allowing for a screen-to-body ratio of 86%. Apart from boasting a bigger display than its predecessor, the OnePlus 6T will also be the company’s first smartphone to come with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6 to protect the display. Another impressive feature of the OnePlus 6T will be the Screen Unlock technology. Thanks to an in-display fingerprint sensor, users can unlock the device quickly and easily.

Under the hood, OnePlus 6T will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor as the OnePlus 6. In the memory department, the smartphone will be available with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. As you would expect from a OnePlus smartphone, the 6T will not have a microSD card slot for further expansion. Moving on to imaging, the OnePlus 6T will come equipped with a 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear. Similar to the OnePlus 6, both the 16MP primary and 20MP secondary sensors will be coupled with an f/1.7 aperture. The smartphone will also offer a wide range of useful camera features such as Quick Capture to snap photos instantly, Portrait Mode, and super slo-mo video recording in HD resolution. On the front of the handset will be a 20MP selfie camera, coupled with an f/1.7 aperture. Keeping the lights on will be a 3700mAh battery, a decent improvement in capacity compared to the 3300mAh cell fueling the OnePlus 6. Sadly, however, the OnePlus 6T will not include a 3.5mm headphone jack, which means users will need to use the USB Type-C to 3.5mm adapter to connect wired headsets. As for physical dimensions, the upcoming flagship will measure 157.5 x 74.9 x 8.2mm and weigh in at 180 grams. Unsurprisingly, the OnePlus 6T will ship with the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box.

Going by recent leaks, the OnePlus 6T will be sold in the US by T-Mobile, making it the first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor to be sold stateside. In addition to T-Mobile, the OnePlus 6T will also be sold by the manufacturer in unlocked form, which will be compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile networks. The smartphone has reportedly passed Verizon certification as well, which could mean that the unlocked model will support Verizon bands as well. In Europe, the OnePlus 6T is expected to be priced at 579 EUR for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
